Thanks for stopping by...
I am a theatre maker, researcher, lecturer, and project manager, based in the North of England. I've made exciting performances happen in fields, markets, empty shops, theatres, schools, subterranean Victorian archways, and more. I often make work with communities, which recently has included an award winning comedy club in a pub for older men, scratch nights for queer creatives, and creative projects for refugees and asylum seekers. My academic research centres on the intersections of Applied Theatre and cultural studies, and I teach in higher education. During the pandemic, I set-up and project managed local support and advocacy initiatives for self employed creatives in Leeds.
At the moment I work across a number of organisations, including the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts as a lecturer in applied theatre and community drama, the University of Leeds as an associate lecturer working in the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, and I am a senior evaluation consultant for the Tricolor Collective. I also regularly pop up in freelance projects and events, often with Pockets Theatre CIC.
If you have a project you'd like to tell me about, or an idea that we could conspire on together,
let me know and let's grab a cuppa.

"Sam is a diligent, creative and incredibly talented project manager and facilitator. He is a fantastic connector of people, making every partner and participant feel engaged and valued. He is as equally adept at managing and maintaining projects with incredible diligence; including making and implementing incredibly detailed project planning and monitoring materials and writing reports with compelling, sensitive and focussed flair. He is a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend him and his extensive skills set to any arts organisation."
Beth Knight - Director, facilitator, arts fundraiser, and director of Archipelago Arts Collective
